Aristotle's 3 modes of persuasion: Pathos, Logos, Ethos

Pathos - the quality or power in an actual life experience or in literature, musicspeech, or other forms of expression, of evoking a feeling of pity  or compassion. The quality or power, especially in literature or speech, of feelings of pity, sorrow, etc.

Logos -
the rational principle that governs and develops the universe. Reason or the rational principle expressed in argument or justification.

Ethos - the fundamental character or spirit of a culture;the underlying sentiment that informs the beliefs, customs, or practices of a group or society; dominant assumptions of people or period. The moral element in dramatic literature that determines character's action rather than his or her thought or emotion.

I think that in the Any Given Sunday speech there is use of Pathos as the speaker is evoking pity and compassion.
